BEET-WINTER
This national clinical trial aims to prevent winter infections, including 'flu and COVID-19, in residents of Care Homes.
Nitric oxide is a potent antimicrobial agent with antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal effects in the laboratory. Several small clinical trials also suggest that it may be effective in treating human infections. We will administer nitric oxide as nitrate in beetroot juice and see if it prevents winter infections.
